For decades, he held the role with unwavering discipline, pride, and responsibility. According to the *Seven Mile Times*, his official service astonishingly spanned 65 years before his retirement in 2021. His connection to the patrol neared 70 years when including time spent with his father, also an Avalon lifeguard. His career is marked by a staggering, profound achievement: during his entire affiliation, there was never a drowning on a protected Avalon beach. This record of perfection, safeguarding millions of swimmers across generations, is virtually unheard of.

Under Captain Wolf’s leadership, the patrol’s excellence was also measured in competition, winning nine South Jersey Lifeguard Championships. His ironclad commitment to safety, rigorous training, and professional excellence shaped generations of lifeguards, setting the gold standard for beach protection.

Beyond the shoreline, Murray Wolf was a dedicated teacher, a devoted family man, and a community coach. This was a life defined by service and vigilance.     I coached wrestling at Pleasantville High School with Coach Wolf…a true legend…I can recall many of those matches
    today (currently 80 years old)…he will be missed!!
