CHINA GROVE, N.C. — The communities of China Grove and Salisbury are united in profound grief after the tragic death of Victoria “Tori” Overcash, 32. Her life was cut short in a devastating head-on collision in Salisbury this week.
According to N.C. Highway Patrol Master Trooper Whit Efird, the crash occurred Thursday morning on Brown Road. Overcash’s southbound vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a northbound garbage truck. She was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
Overcash’s passing has sent waves of sorrow through Rowan County, where she was remembered as a vibrant and caring woman. In a poignant parallel, the accident occurred near the same community mourning another recent tragedy—the loss of a 17-year-old Carson High senior in a separate crash.
Rowan-Salisbury Schools provided additional grief counselors at Carson High School to support students and staff. The Carson Cougarettes Dance Team announced a special tribute, holding a prayer during its final performance and encouraging attendees to wear pink and teal in Overcash’s honor.
As the Highway Patrol continues its investigation into the cause of the crash, family, friends, and a shaken community are left to cherish the memory of a life ended far too soon.
