Pensacola Shooting: Officer-Involved Incident at Carlton Palms; First Suspect Details Released
PENSACOLA, Fla. — An officer-involved shooting prompted a massive police response in Pensacola on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred near the Carlton Palms location on Garden Street, leading to significant road closures and an ongoing investigation.
The Pensacola Police Department first alerted the public via Facebook, stating a large police presence was active in the area of Garden Street at N Alcaniz Street due to the shooting. Authorities closed the Interstate 110 exit 1C to Garden Street and blocked westbound traffic on Garden Street from Tarragona to Alcaniz.

In a follow-up update on social media platform X, police announced that eastbound travel on the affected stretch of Garden Street had reopened by late afternoon, but the westbound lanes remained closed indefinitely.
While official details remain limited, initial reports from law enforcement sources indicate the incident began as a response to a disturbance call. The suspect, an adult male, is reported to have confronted officers with a weapon, leading to the shooting. The suspect was transported to a local hospital with injuries. His current condition and identity have not been publicly released.
No officers were reported injured in the exchange. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) has been called in to conduct an independent investigation, which is standard procedure for officer-involved shootings. The scene remained active Wednesday evening as investigators worked to gather evidence and piece together the sequence of events.
