It is with profound sorrow that the Rochelle Park Police Department announces the passing of retired Police Officer Michael Gallagher #139. Officer Gallagher passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, February 17th, at approximately 10:30 PM.

A true Rochelle Park native and Hackensack High School graduate, Michael Gallagher dedicated his life to service. He began his law enforcement career with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., before returning to his roots. He served his hometown first as a police dispatcher and then proudly achieved his goal of becoming a Rochelle Park Police Officer in 1996.

Officer Gallagher spent his entire 17-year career with the department’s Patrol Division and Motor Unit, serving the community he loved with dedication until his retirement in 2013. His commitment to Rochelle Park was unwavering, from his earliest days to his final watch.

He will be remembered not only for his service but as a beloved member of our police family and community. Officer Michael Gallagher will be missed dearly by all who had the honor of knowing him. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
