Police Conduct Shooting Investigation Wednesday in Simi Valley

SIMI VALLEY – Authorities are investigating after a person was found deceased from a gunshot wound near the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. on February 18, 2026. Simi Valley Police Department, Ventura County Fire Department, and AMR paramedics responded to a call regarding a gunshot victim in the area of 40 Presidential Drive.

Upon arrival, first responders located an individual who was declared deceased at the scene. Initial statements from the Simi Valley Police Department indicated that the wound may have been self-inflicted. Police stated they did not have a suspect in custody and emphasized that the investigation was in its very early stages.

In response to the incident, a significant police presence was established. Presidential Drive was taped off near the top of the hill, with additional units blocking access at the bottom of the roadway.

The department issued a press release via its Nixle alert system, urging drivers to avoid the area entirely. The investigation is expected to temporarily impact access to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, with entry potentially restricted until further notice.
