Amin Jewellers Blackburn Obituary,Blackburn Community Mourns Loss of Local Businessman killed on Whalley Old Road
The Blackburn community is in mourning following the death of local businessman Zahid Amin, who succumbed to injuries sustained in a serious collision last week.
The incident occurred on Friday afternoon, February 13th, on Whalley Old Road, opposite Perry’s Garage. Lancashire Police reported that a white Mercedes-Benz C250 left the carriageway, crossed a grass verge, and collided with a tree. Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 1.45pm.
Mr. Amin, a man in his 50s, was the driver and was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Police have now confirmed his tragic passing. A female passenger, also in her 50s, remains in hospital receiving treatment.

Mr. Amin was the proprietor of Amin Jewellers, one of the longest-established businesses in the Charlotte Street and Victoria Street shopping district. The shop has remained closed since the accident, with many in the community offering prayers and support. His death was formally announced by the Madina Masjid and Raza Masjid.
In a statement, a police spokesperson said: “Our thoughts are with his family and friends and they are being supported by specially trained officers.” The road was closed for several hours as collision investigators examined the scene.
Police continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward by calling 101, quoting log reference 636 of February 13th, or emailing SCIU@lancashire.police.uk. The investigation into the circumstances of the crash remains ongoing.
