Cassie Gunter Gummersville, WV Obituary,Family Mourns Passing Of Beloved Mother
With broken hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Cassie Lee Gunter, 43, of Fenwick Mountain, whose vibrant spirit left an indelible mark on her community, her patients, and, most profoundly, her family.
Born in Summersville on April 13, 1982, to James and Gloria Russell, Cassie lived authentically and creatively. An artistic soul with an eclectic style, she moved through life boldly, starting trends and filling every room with contagious laughter and sunshine. Her beautiful originality was matched only by her devotion as a wife to Harold and a mother to her four children. She was their unwavering champion, cheering at every game and event with fierce pride.

A 2000 Richwood High School graduate, Cassie channeled her compassion into a meaningful career. After earning her master’s from Marshall University in 2018, she served as an APRN who treated people, not just patients, with intelligence and profound empathy. She listened closely and advocated fiercely, making all in her care feel seen.
Cassie embraced life’s joys: sunshine on her face, peace by the water, and the beauty of her garden. She was a creative cook, a passionate painter, and a true fashionista who adored shoes. Music filled her home, and she shared a special bond with her schnauzer, Gus.
Preceded in death by her paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather, Cassie’s light continues in her husband, children, parents, siblings, grandmother Henriette, in-laws, and countless loved ones.
Even in passing, her giving spirit endures through tissue donation that may heal up to 75 lives. Services will be held at Olive Branch Baptist Church in Nettie on Saturday, February 21, 2026. She will be remembered forever for her kindness, her vibrant spirit, and the boundless love she gave so freely.
